Job Purpose:

Responsible and accountable for providing strategic leadership, direction, and management of the Corporate Services (CS) Division, which encompasses Human Resources, Information Technology, Corporate sustainability (UNGC, ILO, ESG and ISO) and Planning. This role ensures that all corporate services functions are delivered with excellence, efficiency, and integrity, enabling Brand South Africa to operate at optimal capacity by establishing and maintaining robust systems, processes, and policies that comply with all relevant legislative and statutory frameworks, thereby safeguarding entity’s credibility, sustainability, and good governance. The position must aligning corporate services with the entity’s strategic objectives and annual performance plans, ensuring that operational support functions are not only responsive but also proactively contribute to the achievement of Brand South Africa’s mandate.

Through effective leadership, the Director must ensure a high-performance culture across the division and the entity, championing innovation, professional development, and continuous improvement. The role also demands strategic foresight, ensuring that corporate services anticipate entity needs, mitigate risks, and provide the necessary infrastructure and capacity for long-term success.

Minimum Qualification requirements & Experience:

  • Appropriate B-Degree qualification in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance and Human Resource Management, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance and Human Resource Management, will be an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as SABPP, IPM or equivalent, will be an added advantage.
  • 10 Years’ senior management experience of which 5 years managing at executive level, Corporate Services or related portfolio.
  • Demonstrated track record of working with boards, senior executives, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in both public and private sector environments is considered an asset.

Key Performance Areas:

  1. Strategic Leadership and Management.
  • Provide strategic leadership within Corporate Services.
  • Contributes substantively to Brand South Africa’s strategy, planning and reporting processes.
  • Contributes towards good governance.
  • Plans and oversees the drafting and formulation of the Brand South Africa’ strategic and annual performance plans.
  • Develops and formulate overall Corporate Services divisional strategic and annual performance plans which comprise of the following portfolios:
  • Human Capital;
  • Information Technology; and
  • Strategic Planning and Performance Monitoring
  • Develop overall corporate policies and/or proposals within the related field and recommends and presents these to the Board for approval.
  • Develop culture change management strategy.
  • Develop organisation design strategy.

2. Operational Management

  • Oversees and directs the rendering of efficient and effective CS support to Brand South Africa business operations.
  • Manages CS operational performance, operations processes, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Complies and properly adheres to relevant legislations and statutory requirements.
  • Develops and implements systems/tools for the execution, monitoring and completion of projects in different business units both locally and internationally.
  • Prepares, manages and monitors the capital and operational budget of the CS division.
  • Ensures the effective and efficient budgetary cost control.

3. People Management.

  • Effectively leads and manages the CS division by maintaining a motivated team to deliver on Brand South Africa strategy within the allocated budget.
  • Promotes a culture and practices that reflect the Brand South Africa values and encourages good performance.
  • Determines human resource requirements taking into consideration operational needs, skills scarcity and retention capability.
  • Manages staff and administer the performance management system for the organisation.
  • Develops and leads a transformation programme of the Brand South Africa aligned with the objectives of the Employment Equity (EE) Act.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of individuals according to job requirements, EE targets and guidelines.

4. Stakeholder Relations

  • Establishes and maintains appropriate stakeholder relations with the Executive Authority.
  • Interact with SCM to ensure SLAs have been met and contracts managed appropriately.

5. Quality Assurance & Management

  • Ensure quality reporting of the statutory documents such as quarterly reports, annual reports and strategic plans to the Executive Authority.
  • ESG Leadership

Embed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the organisation’s operations, including sustainable resource management, diversity and inclusion, ethical governance, and transparent reporting. Align with global sustainability standards and frameworks (e.g., UN SDGs, GRI, King IV) to strengthen resilience, build stakeholder trust, and position Brand South Africa as a leader in responsible and sustainable practices.

  • ISO Standards & Quality Assurance

Implement and maintain ISO-aligned systems such as ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 27001 (Information Security), and ISO 31000 (Risk Management) to embed a culture of continuous improvement, strengthen operational discipline, and proactively manage risks. These standards ensure consistent service delivery, compliance with international benchmarks, and greater assurance to stakeholders regarding quality, security, and governance.

Required Skills, Competencies and Attributes:

Knowledge and Technical Skill

  • Experience in a marketing service-oriented company, related private sector or entity.
  • Knowledge and/or working experience in the management and administration of Corporate Services.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost control procedure.
  • Knowledge in the applications of the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA) and the Treasury Regulations, Companies Act, Governance Report King 3.
  • MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio).
  • Policy formulation and business writing skills.
  • Presentation and Strategy development skills.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the corporate services strategy aligned with the organization’s vision, mission, and long-term goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing insights into organizational performance and future capacity needs.
  • Drive innovation in service delivery by adopting best practices, new technologies, and process improvements.

Information Technology and Digital Transformation

  • Thorough knowledge of IT regulations and strategies (Access to information, security).
  • Thorough knowledge of HR Legislation (Labour Laws, BCEA, EEA, OHSA etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT strategy, infrastructure, and systems to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Oversee data governance, cybersecurity, and the use of technology to improve efficiency.
  • Champion digital transformation initiatives that enhance services and stakeholder engagement.

Financial Management

  • Interpreting financial statements (balance sheet, spot errors and misallocations, do a gap analysis).
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure fiscal discipline and transparency.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, auditing requirements, and internal financial controls for the unit.
  • Provide financial analysis to support executive decision-making and long-term planning.

Corporate Administration and Operations

  • Manage corporate facilities, procurement, and administrative services to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Oversee contracts and vendor relationships to maximize value and reduce risks.
  • Support business continuity planning and crisis management.

Human Resources and Organisational Development; Governance and Compliance

  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and talent management strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corrective action management and consequence management to ensure fairness, compliance and accountability.
  • Champion a positive entity culture that prioritizes diversity, inclusion, and staff well-being.
  • Oversee performance management systems, professional development, and succession planning.
  • Ensure strong governance frameworks, including board and committee support, policy development, and risk management systems.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Promote accountability and ethical business practices across the entity.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Implementing Change management.
  • Ability to present at key strategic platforms (Board Committees and Government Structures/Forums).
